Keiko Kickstarter Project

kickstarterOur Kickstarter project titled “Bring Keiko, The Star of Free Willy, to Hollywood” has launched.

What Is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is an US based “for-profit” company that was founded in 2009, to provide tools for raising funds for creative projects with “crowd funding” through their website.

Kickstarter has funded a diverse array of projects, from indie music and films, to comics, plays, journalism, food projects, and even video games.

People don’t “invest” in Kickstarter projects to make money. Instead, they only “back” projects in exchange for some sort of tangible reward or unique experience, such as a personal thank you notes, or custom T-shirt, a meal with an author, or an initial production run of a new item.

How Can You Help?
Your contributions will bring Keiko back to Hollywood with  a WORLD PREMIERE screening of the HD version of his documentary, Keiko The Untold Story of the Star of Free Willy, at the famous landmark Eqyptian Theater in Hollywood.

Our World Premiere Screening, will coincide with the 20th Anniversary of the release of the hit film Free Willy and will include a screening of the 1993 Warner Bros. hit film Free Willy and a Blue Carpet Ceremony and Reception including the Producers and to-be-announced Cast Members from both films.

About the Film:

Nowhere in recent history has a captive mammal garnered so much attention as Keiko, the orca star of the 1993 hit film, “Free Willy.” The film’s success, partnered with growing public interest in animals held in captivity, launched a children’s crusade that called for Keiko’s release into the wild.

The result: a multimillion-dollar project that spanned four countries, weathered endless controversy and lasted nearly a decade. Through first-hand accounts by the marine mammal experts charged with his care, “Keiko The Untold Story” follows Keiko, his life, his legacy of hope, and the untold story of his extraordinary years in Iceland and Norway.
